Floor persons and Dealers

Floor persons and Dealers

Floorpersons report to pit bosses. The main difference between a pit boss and a floorperson is that the floorperson supervises just a few tables within the pit while the pit boss is in charge of the whole pit. Other than that, these two positions and roles are very similar. Floorpersons and pit bosses dress alike and typically, you won’t be able to distinguish between the two unless you ask. The role of both the pit boss and the floorperson is to make sure that casino staff is following the procedures and players are playing and behaving according to the rules.

The procedures include dealers refilling the racks of chips, monitoring markers, handing out freebies, and more. Most people go to casinos because of the social element. Otherwise, they can stay at home and play games online. Machine games, such as slots and video poker games, are more solitary in nature. This is one of the reasons why table games in live casinos are so popular. Dealers are the members of the casino staff who are at the centre of table games, literally and metaphorically. All dealers must have people skills and customer service skills because dealers have to interact with customers, both when they win and when they get irritated and frustrated, because of losing.

Dealers also need to know how to control themselves because they need to appear cool, calm, relaxed and focused even during high-pressure situations. Being a dealer is a high-pressure job in front of a very demanding audience. The hands of the dealers give out the cards that either take the money or give out a lot of winnings. Dealers possess a high knowledge of casino games and also oversee the players that are at their tables. This takes a lot of skill and experience. Dealers must keep track of people who wins and who loses.
